Keeping The Art of Braiding Alive

The ‘Keeping The Art of Braiding Alive’ exhibition is the result of a project funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund involving young people from Leicester.

Led by cherub braids, a company that specializes in promoting the art form of hair braiding and supported by the Black Mothers Support Group, the project focused on developing young people’s practical braiding skills and understanding of the historical art form of hair braiding.

‘Keeping The Art of Braiding Alive’ Exhibition Launch

Saturday 20th October

1.00p.m. – 3.00p.m

To celebrate the opening of the ‘Keeping The Art of Braiding Alive’ exhibition there will be a launch involving members of the project demonstrating braiding and talking about their experience of being involved in the project.  Members of the public will get the opportunity to learn about the art of braiding and have a go at it themselves.

The launch is a free event open to all members of the public
